apple mac not booting staying on white screen with wheel?
a week ago my mac started to run slow but i didnt think anything off it, untill yesterday when i turned it on it would stay on the white screen with the apple and the wheel would just go round and round and not go on the blue screen
i've been told its because the hard drive is full, is there anything i could do myself so maybe reformat it or wipe the haardrive? rather then paying 49573490534 pounds?

Yes it is true that when the hard drive is full, the Mac will chug along horribly. If you're ok with losing all your data, you can erase the drive and start over. And it won't cost a penny.
- Boot your computer up with the Mac OS install CD (or use the Restore disk your computer came with) by inserting the disk and holding the 'c' key while booting.
- After selecting your language, in the menu bar, go to Utilities/Disk Utility.
- In the left column, click on your internal hard drive, in the main area on the right, click erase.
- Make your settings (I recommend using 'Journaled' format) and click the Erase button
You've now completely wiped the drive and can reinstall your operating system with the same disk.
Now if you're not comfortable with losing all your files, you can try transferring data off your machine to another by using the Target disk mode. To do this you'll need access to another Mac with a Firewire port (PC's won't recognize the HD format your Mac uses).
To do this startup your computer while holding the 't' key. Your screen will turn blue and a yellow Firewire symbol will jump around. Basically you've now turned your computer into an external hard drive and can now connect it to another Mac. Copy over the files you want to clear off and erase the originals from your Mac. When you're done, eject the icon for your Mac from the borrowed computer and restart yours using the power button.
