How do I set up surround sound?
Hello, i have a LG BD 555c it has HDMI but no SPDIF, so i connect the hdmi to tv..theres an option to output surround using the spdif on the tv, there are two type of audio RAW and PCM, which one is best, and then i use a spdif cable from tv to reciever which the reciever only does DTS and Dolby Surround
The LG blu ray has these HDMI audio settings: PCM STEREO, PCM MULTI CHANNEL, DTS RE ENCODE, PRIMARY PASS THRU
The LG only has a coaxial out but the reciever only has a spdif in
If you have a receiver I would connect your blu ray disc player to the receiver and then to the tv coming out of the receiver. Blu ray disc movies are either encoded in Dolby Digital or DTS and no other type. I would let the receiver decode the surround sound instead of the player itself. Use the pass through only. Hope this will help you out.
