Power Surge On Hub Port Error Message won't go away?
It says USB device has exceeded the power limits of its hub port. I've reset it a dozen times like it said. I've tried all three of my USB ports to see which might have caused it. According to the message, none of my three USB slots are the one it is looking for to be removed. It is saying I have 8 USB ports when I only have three. When it first appeared, I had just finished syncing my Iphone.
I am on a 5-6 year old Toshiba laptop, Windows XP.
Not only will it not go away it insists on popping up every 5 seconds.
Any advice on how to get rid of it would be awesome thanks.
Go to Control Panel, System icon, Hardware tab, then Device Manager. Click the "+" symbol next to Universal Serial Bus Controllers. Right click once to highlight each instance of "USB Root Hub," then for each instance, click uninstall. Reboot and the USB will reinstall itself automatically and maybe fix the problem.
